Enhancement

Enhancement is a process by which a player can increase the properties of armor, weapons, or shields. Note, you will need to have completed the Gallagher's Subordinate quest to unlock it.

Effects of Enhancing

By enhancing an item its weight will decrease, its stats will increase (attack for weapons and defense for armor or shields), its maximum durability will increase.

NOTE: Equipment enhanced to +9 or higher will BIND to your character!!! The level of enhancement is denoted with an increasing + in the item's name for each successful enhancement, as seen below:

Enhancing Process

To enhance an item the player must go to The Forge and select the Enhance option from Ferghus. Right clicking an item or dragging it to the top box of the window will show what quality and quantity of Enhancement Stones are needed, the fee for the enhancement process, and a preview of the result; however the preview does not show the increased maximum durability. Enhancement Runes from the Supply Depot can also be used to prevent the negative effects of failures, up to a maximum of +10. Enhancement Runes cannot be used to protect from failure of trying to +11 through +15. The Enhancement Rune is consumed if the enhancement fails. Items destroyed this way can be restored at a cost.

Note

  • When the piece of equipment is destroyed via enhancing and items are returned to you, it gives you an amount rounded down to the nearest integer. For example, if Raider's Twin Sword is destroyed, you will not get a Glas Ghaibhleann's Torn Pants back because it takes 1 to craft it. Half of 1 is 0.5 and the game rounds 0.5 to 0.
  • There is a similar feature known as Enchanting which allows the player to increase the other attributes of their equipment, such as strength or intelligence with the use of Enchant Scrolls.
