In Gold Leather, you may lure him to the steamrollers where they will constantly damage and knock him down. However, this is very time consuming, as the damage of the steamrollers are incredibly low. Make use of your surrounding and objects. A good way to stagger him is to lead him near a pillar and let him smash it. The falling rocks will deal some damage. Tips and Tricks

To obtain the Crimson Rage Helm, players have to aim a spear right for Gnoll Chieftain's head and connect 2 times. If the hit is successful, the chieftain will reel back, clutching his head. When the helmet breaks off, he will no longer be wearing the helm, and an evil core with a ? label will come off. Players can also use objects or certain attacks (e.g. Firebolt, Windmill) to hit the Chieftain's helmet. Only one player in the party needs to do this in order for the entire party to receive it. Hits to the helm while the chief goes to his knees after being speared or struck with a heavy object will count towards taking the helm off. When the chief is on his last bar of health, he will occasionally sigh forward; when this happens, the helm can be knocked off easily.

For an easy win against the boss, at least one player should bring Chain Hooks to pin down the boss with while the others attack.

Trying to win with two or fewer players might seem intimidating after a player's first run, but a duo can easily win with one player chaining down the boss while the other attacks it. Once this player is out of chains, the second player should switch roles with them. This should get rid of at least 2 to 2.5 bars. With at least one half to 1 bar remaining, start attacking the boss when he gets tired (which is after he attacks) to finish him off.

Notes

• There is an ore deposit in the northeast corner of Area 4.
• If "Warrior's Challenge" is selected as the Oath of Honor, then the battle will only consist of one Area followed by 4.
• There are 4 Erg Pots if Path 1 is chosen, and 8 total in Path 2. Two Erg Pots can always be found in Area 4.
  • In Area 3-Path 1, there is one in the pit with the ladder at the end and another in the room where Bryialne spawns, on top of a staircase on the south wall.
  • In Area 1-Path 2, one pot is found above the angled staircase in the first large room and a second is above the tree behind the large pillar levies, on top of the ramp.
  • In Area 2-Path 2, one can be found in the first room, in the northeast corner and a second is found in the second room, on the east wall behind a breakable wall.
  • In Area 3-Path 2, there is one high on the wall across from the archer tower and there is also one in on the left wall during the rolling pillars gauntlet.
    • In Area 4, one can be found just to the right of the entrance, on top of a high platform, and another is on a high platform along the south wall.

Story Spoilers

Shayla tells the player immediately after the battle, in the story A Job for Shayla (3), that the Gnoll Chieftain was the wrong Gnoll to kill. She was right. The Gnolls were split into two factions: those that allied with the Fomors, and those that were against the Fomors. The Gnoll Chieftain was the leader of the faction that opposed the Fomors, and after Decisive Battle, the entire Gnoll race, now undivided, allied with the Fomors. The confusion started early. After the ambush in the Prologue, Marrec asks the player to investigate the Perilous Ruins Gnolls in Marrec and the Crimson Blades. When the player is attacked for unrelated reasons, the Crimson Blades and the Royal Army wrongly assume that the Perilous Ruins Gnolls are allied with the Fomors, and a preemptive strike against them is ordered. It was the Gnolls from Fobellow Prairie and the Ruins of Sanctity that set up the bell tower ambush. This can also be seen by comparing the clothing style of the Gnolls in the Prologue to the Perilous Ruins Gnolls and the Prairie Gnolls. Most of the story in Prairie Entrance/Ruins of Sanctity deals with the other faction of Gnolls and their leaders.
